What to expect at our workshops

Workshop participants do not need to be trained in the Orff Schulwerk approach in order to attend - in fact, we love to introduce new people to the magic of Orff! Music teachers and other educators are welcome to attend our workshops, and need not become members of NYCCAOSA or AOSA in order to participate. Pre-registration is not necessary.

Single workshop prices:

FREE with chapter membership (see the membership tab to join)

$30 non-member

$5 student non-member (with student ID)

$10 Region V Reciprocal Member (bring your membership card from your chapter)

Most of our workshops are centrally located at PS 51 Elias Howe School at 525 West 44th St., New York, NY 10036. The nearest subway stop is Times Square 42nd street - PS 51 is a short walk, or crosstown M42 bus ride, towards 10th ave. Street parking is limited, but there is a parking garage on 43rd st. between 10th and 11th Ave.

Preparing for your workshop:

Expect to move, sing, create, and play! You'll be actively exploring elements of Orff pedagogy, experimenting with composition and improvisation processes, and generating practical ideas for your classroom. Printed workshop notes are included with each session - participants are welcome to jot down notes of their own, but Orff Schulwerk is best experienced through immersion in the process.

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that allow you to move about freely (some participants choose to work barefoot or in dance shoes). To accommodate participants with allergies, we ask that you refrain from strong fragrances, and to refrain from bringing food and drinks other than water into the space. Most of our workshops are from 10 to 2:30, with a lunch break provided.
